I’m a freelance developer of websites and apps who has worked in the education sector for over 15 years, albeit not always in the UK.
Following a short stint working at the NSPCC’s Schools Service, I moved to Budapest in 2001 where I taught English to adults and children.
During that time, I became interested in software and website development, with my first project being the Teacher’s Pet toolbar, a plugin which enables teachers to create classroom materials in their word processor, including crosswords, flashcards and word search puzzles.
Building on its success, I teamed up with a talented Hungarian programmer to develop WordLearner.com for learners and teachers of words in any language using online, mobile and printable puzzles and games.
On returning to the UK, I became involved in building websites with the popular WordPress content management system. Realising that many schools use WordPress, I started exploring how the platform could be built upon to serve schools better – and SchoolSays was born!
