Your privacy is very important to us. At SchoolSays we have a few fundamental principles that we follow:

  • We are committed to collecting and processing your personal data in a fair and lawful way.
  • We don’t ask you for personal data unless we truly need it: we do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you such as gender, income level or ethnicity.
  • We don’t share your personal data with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal data on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our site and services.

WHO WE ARE

SchoolSays (we, us, our) is the trademark of Chris Lacey freelance app and website developer. It is our policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect about you while operating our website and apps.

THE PERSONAL IDENTIFIABLE DATA WE COLLECT

We may collect personal identifiable data such as:

Identity data: first name, last name and title

Contact data: email addresses and telephone numbers of schools

Financial data: bank accounts, purchase order numbers, transaction data and payment details of schools and councils we do business with

Technical data: internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types and versions, time zones, settings and locations, browser plug-in types and versions, operating systems and platforms and other technologies on the devices you use to access our website.

Usage data: information about how you use our website (in particular the pages users visit most often) and interact with us.

Marketing data: your preferences in receiving marketing from us and your communication preferences.

Any other information, which you provide to us.

HOW WE COLLECT PERSONAL IDENTIFIABLE DATA

We collect your information in the following ways:

Information provided to us directly: you may provide us your information when you get in touch with us for a quote either via email or using our contact form on our website.

Publicly available information: we may collect information that is publicly available in places such as Companies House and information that has been published in articles, newspapers and on public web pages.

Analytics provider: like most website operators, we collect personal data of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting personal data is to better understand how website visitors use our website.

App users: our apps do not passively collect any personal data. Our apps only collect a token that anonymously identifies the device of the user and is only used for the purpose of sending push notifications. From time to time, on request we may release non-personal data in the aggregate, for example, by publishing a report on number of downloads and device type.

Feedback: most of our apps have a feedback form that can be used by app users to provide feedback about their experience of using the SchoolSays app. In the event that feedback is provided, the name and email address of the user may be stored indefinitely or until the user requests its deletion.

HOW WE PROCESS YOUR DATA

Our services: we provide you with services, quotes and information you have requested.

Our relationship with you: we keep a record of your relationship with us and ensure we know how you would like us to stay in touch.

Improving website experience: our website uses cookies; a cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. We use cookies to help us identify and track visitors, their usage of the SchoolSays website, and their website access preferences. However, in our Google Analytics, IP Anonymization turned on. This means that Google will anonymize your IP address as soon as technically feasible by removing the last octet of the IP address before storage and processing begins, and therefore the full IP address as Google claims “is never written to the disk”. Cookies related to Google Analytics are stored for 50 weeks.

Marketing purposes: we may send you updates on our products or services if you have had done business with us or if we think our services could be relevant to your organisation, however, we only send our marketing material to publicly available email addresses with the option of opting out from future correspondence. We do not share your personal data with any third party for marketing purposes.

Business Transfers: if SchoolSays is acquired in the future, or in the unlikely event that SchoolSays goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by the new owner of SchoolSays. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of SchoolSays may continue to use your personal data as set forth in this policy.

DATA PROTECTION

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data.

Though we take care to ensure the highest level of security available to us, no servers are immune to being compromised either wilfully or otherwise. By allowing us to store your personal data, you accept that this is done at your own risk.

We will not rent or sell personal data to anyone. Other than to our employees, we will disclose personal data only in response to a legal or governmental demand, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our property or rights, third parties or the public at large.

You have rights regarding your personal data we store, including:

  • a right of access to a copy of your data,
  • a right to correct your data,
  • a right to erase your data
  • a right to object to processing your data;
  • a right to withdraw your consent

Should you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact chris.lacey@schoolsays .co.uk

As part of our business operation we use third-party services which may utilise servers outside of the EU, such as Google Analytics, Gmail, Google Calendar, Microsoft OneDrive and others.
